How the Sugar Industry Shifted Blame to Fat

How the Sugar Industry Shifted Blame to Fat was posted on my facebook page this morning. Back in 1967 the sugar industry paid these two men to blame fat for cardio vascular disease instead of sugar shifting the belief that sugar is not to be blamed for obesity, but only tooth decay. “D. Mark Hegsted, who went on to become the head of nutrition at the United States Department of Agriculture, where in 1977 he helped draft the forerunner to the federal government’s dietary guidelines. Another was Dr. Fredrick J. Stare, the chairman of Harvard’s nutrition department.”

First be mad about the fact that science was bought. Next understand that sugar is dangerous to your health and your family’s health.

Next….stop consuming sugar. (Yikes!!! You can do it!)

Get informed. I suggest watching Sugar: The Bitter Truth.  (Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin. )

How can acupuncture help?

Some of us have a harder time getting off sugar than others. Regular supportive acupuncture visits can curb the cravings and help you stay off sugar. It may take up to two weeks for the cravings to stop. Schedule visits every 3-4 days during this two week period for support. This is only a suggestion. If you want to know more schedule a 30 minute consultation to find out what Chinese Medicine can do for you.
